Project: Quadcopter

For the past few months, we were assigned a group project which was building a Quad-copter. Yes. Quad-copter is a copter having 4 propellers on each arm. It sounds cool. This is so far the most experiencing and memorable journey studying here as a fresher. We were grouped by our lecture but not our own. We don’t get to choose who you want to work with and who you don’t want. Well, it is quite a lucky and glad to have my team. Throughout the journey, we learn and we get to know each other closer than before. As a team, we need to learn how to cooperate together with the other members. As a leader, we need to understand and accept comments from the group members. There is no independent in a group project. As a team, work as a team.  We were so proud of ourselves through the journey we made so far.

Before building the actual Quad-copter, we need to come out a design on what type or what shape of the Quad-copter we want. Well, we come out this Shuriken (NINJA STUFF) pattern which all of us agree and love it. This design is considered the most challenging structure so far because building a Quad-copter, you need to know and understand the basic fundamental on building a real Quad-copter. We decide to go beyond that normal and think out of the box. Thank you design team for your hard work on the drawing in hand sketch or solid works. You guys did amazingly.

When people see our design, they say it definitely won’t work. We were like you never try you will never know what will happen later. Our group have faith that our design can actually work and prove that we can really make it works. Oh well, we did it anyway. So stop commenting on our design. Haha!

When it comes to fabrication, the team actually did a great job. Without their hard work and precision, our Shuriken probably can’t be finish perfectly. We had been gone through hard time and difficulties when building this Shuriken because we need to have more precision on cutting and drilling every holes and each of every arms and materials. It was not an easy task for us frankly speaking. Thank you for all of them who willing to spend their time in the workshop and you guys did greatly. In the workshop, we had been gone through happiness and difficulties, meanwhile, we managed to solve them.

After fabrication, we tested our Quad-copter for the first time. We were so worried that we couldn’t fly it because due to our structure, it changes the direction when it started to fly. It was quite hard for us to actually fly this Shuriken. We stayed at uni for late night just to test and fly our Quad-copter. We were so worried before the accessing day because we will be marked based on the tasks given. If we can’t fulfill the tasks, we will have a low score. For the bad side, it couldn't fly properly due to the alignment. For the good side, we made it because Shuriken means to turn when flying. Well, achievement up, haha!

But seems miracle visit us during the accessing day for our Shuriken. We were testing and all of a sudden, our Shuriken can fly higher than any other groups. We were so happy and jumpie that day because looking at other groups which they can fly their copter perfectly, we had little disappointed in our heart. But seems like we made it and we can do better than anyone else. Yay. Such an achievement for all of us. Haha! We were so happy! Oh well, hard work pays off. Haha! We have faith in you our dear Shuriken. You don’t disappoint us and make us proud. Such a joyful day for us because we able to see our Shuriken flying in the air. At first we thought that our Shuriken is kind of like flimsy and not strong, but after testing and hitting walls, doors and stuff, hmmm… I doubt that. It is strong! No doubt.

Lastly, I would like to thanks all my members for giving in your time. We made it and we did great. Marks doesn’t mean anything, what it matters is that we work as a team and we corporate with each other peacefully. So proud of all of you. Haha! I wish I can have the same team again for the next project. We really wish that. Heheh! Great job guys! Achievement level up!! We get good scores too. Yay to all of us! haha
